By Scott McLeod | TalkSport|Posted February 24, 2018 05:31:38It’s been an exciting few weeks for Blue Lotus, as the Australian manufacturer has managed to make some huge strides towards the 2018 season.
The first of those steps has been a huge step forward for Blue, who have climbed to the top of the F1 standings with a result of 11th in the constructors’ championship.
“I think the guys have been on the back foot all year, and we were struggling,” Red Bull team principal Christian Horner said.
“We had a lot of mistakes and I think we made some of them too.
But it was the right step.”
This week we’ve got to go to the race and see what we can do, because we’re not going to be able to win the race.
“The Red Bull drivers will head to Singapore next week to battle for the crown with reigning champions Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton.
For Red Bull, it’s the chance to build on their strong showing in Malaysia, where the team finished third. “
We need to be a little bit more consistent in the last few races,” Redbull team principal Horner added.
For Red Bull, it’s the chance to build on their strong showing in Malaysia, where the team finished third.
Red Bull’s strategy is to take the pressure off Hamilton and Vettel, with the latter being more comfortable in the front row.
“It’s very important to have that consistency,” Horner explained.
Horner said that the car will also benefit from an upgrade to the chassis.
He also praised the new tyres that have been developed by Ferrari.
“They’ve had the opportunity to have some time with it,” Horners said.
But Red Bull have a lot to prove in Singapore.
They have the drivers’ championship on the line, but it’s also a big test for them to prove they’re the best team in the world.
“If we don’t have a good result, we’re in trouble,” Red Bulls team principal Daniel Ricciardo said.
The Red Bulls will be without team principal Adrian Newey for the race. “
It’s going to take some time to build this car up and try something different, but hopefully, we’ll be able do that.”
The Red Bulls will be without team principal Adrian Newey for the race.
He has missed the past three races due to a broken collarbone, while Red Bull’s driver line-up has also been reduced by two.
Newey will miss the Singapore race as he recovers from his injury.
Mercedes have not had a driver of the season since the end of the 2017 season, but they’ve managed to win three races this season.
And despite the absence of their two World Champions, both Mercedes drivers are in contention to be the championship leaders.
In 2017, Daniel Richelieu and Nico Rosberg were able to secure the title by the end, while Kimi Raikkonen took victory from Max Verstappen in the first race of the year.
Both of these drivers are back in contention for a top 10 position in 2018.
The first step towards a successful season for Red Bull is to be consistent and improve their performance over the next few races.
“We’re doing the right things and we’re working hard,” Horning said.
