The flowers for the “august birthday” of Japanese Emperor Akihito, which are expected to fly over Tokyo from Thursday, will be flown over Tokyo on a balloon on the night of Jan. 6, 2018.
The bouquet is part of a series of bouquets and gifts for the Emperor by Japanese artists and designers.
The bouquettes and gifts will be presented at a ceremony at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on Thursday evening.
In addition to the flowers, the Imperial Family of Japan has created a shrine to Akihitos parents, a statue of Akihiteboshi, the founder of the country and a statue in the capital of Tokyo.
The Imperial Family also plans to present a collection of Japanese cultural items and crafts to the Emperor during the coronation ceremony.
